Oscar nominee to star on Auckland's Civic stage

It's been more than 30 years since acclaimed Israeli actor Chaim Topol played the role of Tevye the milkman in the 1971 film version of Fiddler on the Roof.

Now he's set to reprise the role in a stage production of the much-loved musical at Auckland's Civic Theatre.

Topol, who won a Golden Globe award and received an Oscar nomination for his role in the movie, will be joined by a cast of 35 actors, singers and dancers.

The show will be accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. The show runs from May 6-20.
