Talk show titan Oprah Winfrey has offered to "cut the cord" of a heavily pregnant fan in the audience of her first Australian show.
The 61-year-old American TV star graced the stage of Melbourne's Rod Laver arena on Wednesday night to kick off a multi-city Australian arena tour, in frontof 12,000 screaming fans.
She paid tribute to those who came to see her, including Sarah, a 40-week pregnant woman.
"This baby is coming tonight," she joked. "Please let me cut the cord.
"If the waters break just let me know and I'll stop saying whatever I'm talking about."
The long-reigning queen of daytime TV said it had taken her five years to return down under.
"I don't know why you're all here," she joked again. "I don't sing or dance but you came anyway. Thank you so much."
An Evening With Oprah is being billed as an intimate show, where the billionaire, estimated by Forbes to be worth $3.2 billion, will share her life insights and wisdom with fans who've shelled out up to $380 for a stadium seat.
