Ohio deputy’s surprise as he stops speeding Santa and Mrs Claus

Police in Ohio, United States, were surprised to pull over a speeding Santa and Mrs Claus over the weekend, before letting them off with just a jolly warning.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department in Ohio shared bodycam video of an officer pulling over an elderly couple on December 20, capturing the deputy’s surprise at the duo’s seasonal costumes.

Shining a torch into the vehicle, Sergeant Mark Robinson greeted the panicked pair and was quickly informed Santa was armed with a CCW (concealed carry weapon).

“Santa has a CCW? Times are rough,” the officer jested.

Despite identifying the driver, Robinson played into the festive fun throughout the humorous video, joking about his presents being at risk as he checks “Santa’s” licence.

“Oh my god, you guys, this is the video of the night,” he said.

The red-suit-clad man said he hadn’t noticed he was speeding as the couple made their way to their daughter’s house for a holiday celebration.

Robinson let the couple off with a warning to slow down, even as Santa bantered about setting Rudolph on him.

They also snapped a picture of Santa and Robinson before the three exchanged holiday well wishes.

“The North Pole isn’t what it used to be,” Mrs Claus told Robinson as the pair set off again.

The sheriff’s department took the Christmas clip as an opportunity to urge motorists to take care over the holidays, captioning the video with an appropriately comical warning.

“Santa and Mrs Claus were spotted flying a little too fast through Fulton County. No coal was issued – just a friendly reminder that even sleighs need to slow down.”
