The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra failed to take home a Grammy.
Hopes of adding a Grammy to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra's awards cabinet have been dashed after the accolade was handed to the Boston orchestra instead.
The Kiwi instrumentalists were finalists in the Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance for their rendition of Zhou Long & Chen Yi's Symphony Humen 1839.
They lost out to the Boston Symphony Orchestra which took the award for its version of Shostakovich's Under Stalin's Shadow - Symphony No. 10.
"Breaking news ... We didn't win the Grammy ... but as they say, it was an honour to be nominated and to be ranked alongside some of the world's top orchestras," the post read.

The orchestra previously took to social media to share their excitement, posting an image with the caption "bubbly at the ready...will the NZSO win?".
