Former Disney alum and How I Met Your Mother star David Henrie has been arrested for allegedly carrying a loaded gun through a US airport.

The actor, 29, best known for playing Selena Gomez's big brother on Wizards Of Waverly Place and Ted Mosby's future son in HIMYM, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday morning.

According to TMZ, Henrie was going through the security screening at LAX when authorities found the weapon and detained him. It's unclear as to why he was allegedly carrying a gun through the airport.

In a statement to the website, Henrie took full responsibility for the "situation" and apologised for any trouble caused.

"More than anything I am humiliated and embarrassed that this even happened," he told TMZ.

Henrie starred in Wizards from 2007 until 2012 and HIMYM from 2005-2014, and has also appeared in That's So Raven, Cold Case, Arrested Development, Grown Ups 2 and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Henrie has also been working on his own indie film, This Is The Year, and Reagan, starring Dennis Quaid.

Just days ago, the actor was celebrating the gender reveal of the baby he's expecting with wife Maria Cahill. Henrie shared footage on Instagram of the couple being showered with pink glitter and confetti, and included a cheeky reference to HIMYM in the caption.
