It still hasn't screened on network TV in New Zealand, but Terry Teo is about to be played on a big screen overseas.
The acclaimed six-part reboot of the much-loved '80s series has been invited to screen at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, next month.
Four episodes of the show will be on show at Fantastic Fest, which normally screens a wide array of "horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action".
Creator Luke Sharpe called it "one of the coolest genre film festivals on the planet and we're honoured to be the first New Zealand TV series invited to take part".
Sharpe said it could open doors for distribution deals for the show overseas.
Terry Teo debuted not on TV2 as initially expected but on TVNZ streaming service On Demand, and a war of words broke out over whether the show was too mature for younger viewers.
TVNZ says Terry Teo will screen later in the year on TV2.
