Former Bachelor Art Green's 'awkward threesome'

Art Green and Matilda Rice's first kiss on The Bachelor was less than ideal.

Last year's Bachelor NZ Art Green has opened up about the first time he kissed current girlfriend Matilda Rice on TV.

The pair first connected on the Kiwi reality show and are still going strong more than a year later.

It may have looked dreamy to those sitting at home, as they lay sprawled out on a picnic blanket - the reality was anything but he told Woman's Day.

He says the situation was less than ideal as a microphone pack dug into his back and he worried about looking "too sweaty" in the heat.

Green went in for the smooch, all the while trying to block out cameramen and crew milling nearby.

Things got really uncomfortable as the pair continued to lock lips, even when the sound technician started to unhook their microphones, resulting in an "awkward threesome situation".

"We were on our second date. After spending the entire time about kissing her, I knew I had to take my chance," Green revealed to Woman's Day.

"I'd wanted to kiss her long before this moment."

The first beauty to get a proper kiss with this year's Bachelor Jordan Mauger, was Storm Halkett.

They got romantic after solo dinner date on board a luxury boat, with the bachelorette admitting he was a, "really good kisser".
