Lorde isn't just recording a new single for the next Hunger Games film, she's choosing the movie's entire soundtrack.
The New Zealand pop star is to hand-pick the artists for the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 as well as delivering the lead single for the album.
The announcement that she is curating the soundtrack came accompanied by a tweet from the singer than she and producer Joel Little had already written the single.
"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," said the 17-year-old singer-songwriter in a statement.
"The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
Lorde's cover version of Tears for For Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World featured on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack last year.
The soundtrack to the first Hunger Games film topped the Billboard 200 album chart in 2012 and was the best selling soundtrack of that year, Its Taylor Swift-Civil Wars single Safe and Sound won a Grammy for best song written for visual media.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1is due for release at New Zealand cinemas on November 20.
