Auckland radio host Nick Dwyer is leaving the George FM breakfast show.
The DJ, known as Nick D, announced the news this morning, telling listeners he is moving to Japan to pursue career opportunities. He will be replaced by former George host Clarke Gayford, and Aroha Harawira, who will move from her current daytime slot.
Nick D has hosted the breakfast show on the Auckland dance station for the last five years. He has been working in radio for 20 years.
"Over the last five years, George has grown from a little, almost community station, that had a reputation as just being about doof and lattes into one of the greatest little powerhouses of new music and quality chat," he said in a statement.
George FM programme director, Willy Macalister described Nick D's tenure as full of "epic enthusiasm and magic radio". He wished him well for his move and welcomed the new lineup.
"George Breakfast with Clarke and Aroha was meant to be. Aroha has been part of the George family for five years and we are stoked to have her step up into the breakfast show. As for the other guy, welcome home Clarke!"
Gayford and Harawira's new show will start on March 31.
