New Zealand film and television star Jonathan Hardy has died at the age of 71, it has been reported.
Best known for his role on cult sci-fi show Farscape, Hardy was honoured by his co-star Lani Tupu on Facebook, Examiner.com reported.
"Thank you, Jonathan for all your wonderful stories, your wicked wit ... your time, advice and your friendship. I am going to miss you very much.
"Sail well, where ever your spirit takes you. It was a great journey we travelled in space together. I am so proud and privileged to have worked with you," Tupu wrote.
More details about the star's death are yet to be confirmed.
Hardy voiced the Farscape character Dominar Rygel VXI for the New Zealand-filmed show's four-season run from 1999-2003. Tupu played Captain Crais.
He was nominated for an Academy Award for his 1980 film Breaker Morant and his other film credits include Moulin Rouge and Mad Max.
