Get ready for Cher, the musical.

The iconic singer has revealed that she is collaborating with producers on a show that will tell her life story and feature her music.

According to her Twitter feed, the project has been in progress for some time, and will feature three different actresses who will play the Believe singer at various stages of her career.

One actress will portray the singer before she met Sonny Bono; another after the pair split, leading up to and through her Believe tour period; and a third will play a "wise" present-day version of the singer.

"Prod r trying 2 write musical now about my life with my music," she wrote. "Its very Interesting idea. There r 3 Chers! 1 b4 i met Son thru S&C yrs. 1 after i left thru Believe tour & 1 Now (sic)."

According to the singer, the three Chers will interact and perform with each other.

"They all 3 talk 2 each other &Sing 2gether!" she wrote, adding that she will help write the script because, "i was there & know stories that no1 knows but me ! I hope it happens!

"Its musical w/ my music. [It will be on] Broadway! Its VERY SLOW PROCESS! been working on it quite a while now," she added.

Asked by a fan if she had any plans to star in the show, she joked: "I could b old Cher! Shes wise n tells 2 young 1's not 2 fear future"

Word of a possible Cher musical first surfaced back in 2010.

Film director Andy Fickman told Popeater that he hoped to bring the songs and life story of the singer to the stage.

"We'll be making announcements about that project coming together shortly," he said. "She's a fairly phenomenal character, Cher - as a human being I think she's one of the great icons of all time, a force to be reckoned with."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer is also working on a new album - her 26th - which will feature a duet with Lady Gaga.

Cher recently confirmed plans to tour later this year.
