Lana Del rey is reportedly dating Axl Rose.

As rumoured hookups go, this one's a whopping cranium scratcher.

Barely two weeks after reports emerged of a blossoming, tabloid-baiting romance between Lana Del Rey and macabre rocker Marilyn Manson, the chanteuse has sparked fevered speculation that she's puckering up with Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose.

Last month, the 25-year-old divisive singer set tongues wagging after she was snapped sneaking off in a hotel lift with Manson in Berlin, Germany.

German newspaper BZ chimed that Del Rey and Manson were spied together several times while both were in town for the Echo Music Awards.

Sources tell the paper that the pair were first spotted having dinner at the city's Grille Royale restaurant ahead of the Awards, leaving shortly after midnight.

While Del Rey was staying at the Concorde Hotel, the newspaper claims that she was spotted hopping into an elevator with Manson at the five-star Grand Hyatt hotel where he was staying.

The rumoured couple were earlier snapped backstage at the awards show, posing for photographs with veteran crooner Barry Manilow. Check out a snap of the unlikely trio here.

A platonic relationship blown out of all proportion by the tabs? Maybe.

And while you chew over that one, spare some of that precious grey matter for the fresh gossip at hand: Del Rey's alleged new squeeze, Mr Rose.

Del Rey and Rose, 50, were spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood together on Friday, before hopping into an SUV and driving off with a female companion, according to TMZ.

Last month, Del Rey was spotted attending two back-to-back Guns N' Roses concerts in Los Angeles, claims Us Weekly, fueling speculation that the two are more than musical mates.

"[Del Rey] didn't take her eyes off the stage. She looked like such a fan. She was in total awe of the guys on stage," says a source.

So are they an item?

Not according to Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba. "I don't think they're dating," he told TMZ. "Axl's really a cool dude and he likes to hang out with cool people.

"I think they were probably just buddy buddy hanging out."

Del Rey has been a fan of Rose for some time, it seems. Prior to making it big, the singer recorded a song called Axl Rose Husband, in which she sings "You're my one king daddy, I'm your little queen."
