Crowd control at Gisborne's Rhythm and Vines festival is being improved after boisterous partygoers forced organisers to shut down bus services last night.
Buses had been flowing smoothly until huge crowds amassed at 9pm.
Police deemed the situation unsafe when barriers were knocked over and chose not to re-commence the bus services.
Organisers are apologising to people affected and are working with police and traffic management staff to improve crowd management tonight.
