Stranger Things fans logging into Netflix to watch the show’s newest season had their expectations crushed today.
The streaming service crashed for about three minutes at 2pm as the hit show premiered on the platform, Variety reported.
Netflix continued to have bugs for many users.
Thousands of fans eager towatch the final season of the sci-fi series were met with the message, “Something went wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request. You’ll find lots to explore on the home page,” according to the outlet.
One wrote, “This Netflix crashing, I just wanted to watch Stranger Things,” while another posted, “My Netflix froze, damn it, everyone’s logging in to watch Stranger Things.
“Waited all day in excitement just for Netflix to crash,” another echoed.

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s successes, with its third season reaching 64 million households worldwide in its first month of release and the last season gaining 1.3 billion viewing hours in the same period, according to the streaming service.
Anticipation for the fifth and final season has been high, with fans having to wait three years since the last release of episodes.
A video announcing the release date of the new season amassed a quarter of a billion views in less than a week.
Today’s fiasco is not the first time Netflix has been overwhelmed by fans of the show, as Variety reported the service was briefly unavailable when the last two episodes of season four were released in 2022.
The series will be released in segments.
The first four episodes have come out today, while a further three will be released on Boxing Day and the finale on New Year’s Day.
