Favourite restaurant for dinner with friends?
Le Garde-Manger on Upper Queen St with a stop at the Churchill rooftop bar if we’re in town and feeling fancy. Lilians in Grey Lynn is sensational. Andiamo on Jervois Rd is sensational. All of them. Sensational.
Favourite place to take a visitor to?
I try to do a mix of nature and town, so send them up a volcano or two - Mt Eden, or Mt Vic, which is lovely at night, and out to a couple of east or west coast beaches. Waiheke is always glorious in summer (Tantalus, Casita Miro and Mudbrick are my faves) and a hit with my fabulous aunties when they visit from overseas!
Favourite spot to finish a night out?
These days, we usually end up at the Cork, at the back of Grand Central. Always a laugh and perfect for unwinding after a late-night gig.
Favourite place to get coffee?
I usually make my own, I live around the corner from the Kokako roastery and am a huge fan of their Mahana blend. Chocolatey and delicious.
Favourite fish-and-chip shop?
I’m allergic to fish, which feels illegal, living in NZ. So it’s all about the chips. Open to recommendations!
Favourite trail for a hike?
North Shore Coastal Walkway. It’s so good for the soul, and you can jump into the ocean for a swim anywhere.
Favourite venue for a gig?
Freida’s in Grey Lynn. The sangria, the wine, the music, the friends ... it’s everything you could want in one happy place. There are always amazing musicians popping through, vinyl records and a piano. Market days are super fun there too. Such a buzz!
