In this Herald on Sunday series, we ask well-known Aucklanders for their favourite spots in the city. This week, Black Foils strategist Liv Mackay takes us on a tour of her top places.

Favourite beach?

Tāwharanui, amazing beaches to either relax or surf. It’s part of a reserve with some great walks!

Favourite brunch spot?

Odettes, delicious food and super easy to get to if you’re in the city.

Favourite restaurant for dinner with friends?

Lillian, Mediterranean food which is my favourite and a great wine menu. Always go when I’m home.

Favourite place to take a visitor to?

Piha, stunning scenery with a lot to do. Perfect to watch the sunset, go for a walk, spend time in the water, enjoy some food or just relax on the beach.

Favourite spot to finish a night out?

ACS, fun bar and drinks that are made specially for what you like.

Favourite place to get coffee?

Kinship Takapuna, super nice owners, great coffee and close to the beach.

Favourite fish-and-chip shop?

Leigh Eats. After spending some time at Goat Island it’s a perfect way to end the day.

Favourite trail for a hike?

Karamatura falls/Don Maclean lookout - stunning.

Favourite venue for a gig?

I saw Angus and Julia Stone at The Civic and it was pretty amazing, otherwise Powerstation as it’s quite an intimate venue.

Favourite place to find a bargain?

Wairau Valley for home, otherwise Ponsonby Central has some good pop ups at the moment.
