Sweethearts Jay and Sarah were sent home after a dessert disaster on MKR tonight.
Waikato sweethearts Jay and Sarah literally threw their My Kitchen Rules dreams down the drain in tonight's semifinal.
It was gatecrasher's Jess and Stella from Wellington who emerged triumphant and will take on Auckland friends Zoe and William in tomorrow night's final.
William and Zoe were safe after last week's MKR semifinal and will compete in tomorrow's final.
Jay and Sarah had a dessert meltdown afteraccidentally tipping their key ingredient down the sink.
With no more silken tofu available for the final course, they were forced to serve up firm tofu, resulting in a disappointing dish.
The whole experience had been a "huge accomplishment" but an "emotional rollercoaster" for the duo, Jay said.
The Waikato duo got off to a great start with their plum-cured salmon entree hitting the right note with Nadia Lim, who said it was the perfect balance of sweet, sour and salty.
Judge Ben Bayley agreed: "This was the best dish you've cooked for me in the competition so far."
Jess and Stella's beef carpaccio didn't get the same reception - it was called "bland", "mediocre" and under-seasoned.
But they redeemed themselves with a lamb loin main, named best in the entire competition while Jay and Sarah's duck breast was a "bit of a traffic jam" of flavours.
Wellington mates Jess and Stella will head into the final tomorrow night.
With a score of 40 to Jess and Stella's 47, Jay and Sarah's MKR ride came to an end.
There will be a 90 minute grand final on TV2 at 7.30pm with one team taking home a cash prize of $100,000.
