The Starbucks barista who confused Helen Hunt with Jodie Foster last week shouldn't feel too bad.

Foster, in Sydney for the premiere of her latest thriller, Money Monster, has lost count of the times she has been mistaken for Hunt.

"It happens all the time," said the actor-turned-director.

"We talk about it a lot."

Hunt took to Twitter last week to share the story of a Starbucks barista who got her Hollywood stars mixed up.

When the 52-year-old Twister star picked up the cup, it had a misspelt "Jody" texted on the side.

"What's actually really weird, is that Helen Hunt's mum looks exactly like me," said Foster.
"She looks much more like me than my own mum."

Foster appeared on screen as Mel Gibson's wife in her last directorial project, The Beaver.

But after 50 years in the movie business, Foster opted to remain behind the camera this time.

The Money Monster, a nailbiting three-hander about a disgruntled investor who takes a finance celebrity hostage on live TV, stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Unbroken's Jack O'Connell.

The two-time Oscar winner will, however, appear live on stage in Sydney tonight at the George Street premiere of her film in a Q & A with former Movie Show host Margaret Pomeranz.
