A tiny border wall, complete with US flags, razor wire and "keep out" signs, appeared around Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this week.
Large numbers of amused tourists gathered to photograph the installation after it appeared on Wednesday. It was removed by Thursday.
The person
responsible for erecting the wall was British-born, LA-based street artist Plastic Jesus, who posted an image of his handiwork to Instagram saying: "Hollywood sightseers on the famous walk of fame were confronted with an unusual edition to Trump's Famous Star. Someone had built a 6″ tall grey concrete wall around it. Complete with 'Keep out' signs and topped with razor wire. The unofficial addition to the iconic star appeared early Tuesday afternoon, to the amusement of onlookers."
Previous attention-grabbing works from the artist include a life-sized, cocaine snorting Oscar statuette that appeared on Hollywood Boulevard during the run-up to the the 2015 Academy Awards, which he followed up in 2016 with a pole-dancing statuette titled 'Back-up Plan'.
A biography on his website says: "Plastic Jesus is not about revolution, he is not a anarchist [sic] but would like to see some changes around the place. His work is more about shining a small light into some of those dark corners of society."
