Pop singer Miley Cyrus has posted a picture of her swollen tonsils online as she battles a nasty throat infection.

The Wrecking Ball singer has fallen ill with strep throat, a bacterial infection, and she's been documenting her health crisis with a series of posts on her Instagram page.

Cyrus shared a picture of herself lying in bed on Sunday night, writing, "When it's 100 degrees outside but you are feelin sickyyyyy and you are freezing (sic)."

She went on to upload snaps of herself cuddling her pets and watching TV before adding a candid shot of her swollen tonsils with the caption, "Gnarly".

Cyrus later revealed she is battling "strep".
