Fast and the Furious star Michelle Rodriguez has been in New Zealand on a motorcycle and sharing her experiences with her fans on social media.

The actress caused a stir last month when she told an interviewer minority actors should stop stealing "white" superhero roles (a comment she soon regretted and apologised for) but has been finding calm in New Zealand's beauty spots.

The 36-year-old star has been on a 10-day holiday here, and hit the road with two American friends to enjoy the countryside.

She was in Mangawhai last Saturday, stopping at the Smashed Pipi cafe for a bite to eat. On Monday, she revved her way down to Tauranga, popping in for breakfast at the Alimento cafe.

Soul Bar at Auckland's Viaduct was the destination on Wednesday night, where she posed with fan Ngahuia Panapa.

Rodriguez had been staying at the SkyCity hotel while in Auckland, and flew out yesterday to Queensland.

Fast and Furious opens in New Zealand on April 2.
