Matthew Ridge welcomes new son

Former rugby league legend Matthew Ridge and his musician partner Carly Binding have welcomed a bouncing baby boy they have named London Luca Ridge.

Ridgey told me mother and baby are doing fine.

This is the second son for Ridge who has two children from his previous marriage to celebrity arts and crafts columnist Sally Ridge. Daughter Jaime is 16 and son Boston is 13. Like Posh and Becks, Ridgey evidently likes naming his boys after big cities.

The news is a welcome relief for the celebrity couple who suffered two tragic miscarriages last year.

This year, the couple affectionately dubbed CARMAT, made the headlines when Ridge was embroiled in a celebrity spat with his ex-wife.

The altercation took place in front of their children at the $6.1m Freemans Bay mansion Sally lived in with former partner Adam Parore.

The dispute came after Ridge learned his teenage daughter and her boyfriend Benjamin Calvert had been spending nights together under Sally's roof.
