Former Close Up presenter Mark Sainsbury has been confirmed as the replacement host for Sean Plunket on RadioLive's morning show.
News of Plunket's departure broke last week, with insiders predicting Sainsbury would take the reins.
Mediaworks has now confirmed the move, which will see Sainsbury host the weekday morning showfrom February 1 next year.
Sainsbury has been filling in on RadioLive since 2013 and currently hosts a weekly show on Sunday mornings.
"I've really enjoyed doing my Sunday morning show and love radio, so the opportunity to take on a bigger role that gives me an even greater opportunity to connect directly with our audiences is one that I just couldn't turn down," he said in a statement.
Neither Plunket nor Mediaworks has commented on the reason behind his departure. Last week, the broadcaster Tweeted: "Change is the only constant!!!"
The former Morning Report presenter is known for his strong opinions and probing interviews. Earlier this year, he came under fire for describing award-winning New Zealand author Eleanor Catton as an "ungrateful hua" and "traitor".
