Mark Sainsbury announced to fill in for Paul Henry on TV3

Paul Henry's fill-in hosts on the TV3 morning news show are being kept a secret.

Paul Henry is going on holiday and the broadcaster has two different presenters filling in his role while he's away. One of them might surprise you.

Henry announced his holiday from MediaWorks' morning news show Paul Henry this morning, saying he was escaping New Zealand's chilly winter by heading to warmer climates.

"I'm going to go on holiday for a few weeks so I won't be here," he said.

"I'm going to go away and have a lot of fun in a country that is thankfully a little bit hotter than this one is right at the minute. Instead there will be a host of other people that will take over.

"None of them will of course be a patch on me, but it's only a few weeks," he said. "They are lovely people, believe you me."

While Henry didn't tell viewers who would be taking over, MediaWorks told the Herald former TVNZ presenter Mark Sainsbury would fill in for him for the rest of this week and next week, while Alison Mau would also fill in for his last week on leave.

Henry will return on July 25, MediaWorks confirmed.

Sainsbury and his moustache haven't been seen in a high-profile TV slot since he left TVNZ's prime time show Close Up in 2012. He currently hosts a weekday show on Radio Live.

Henry's pulled this trick before, most notably when he went on holiday from his old The Paul Henry Show and was replaced by a rotating guest roster that included Alison Mau, David Farrier and Mike Puru.
