Mariah Carey totally regrets her 1990's style

Maria Carey shudders when she looks back at photos from the 1990s, because she rarely looked good.

The star, who is engaged to Aussie billionaire James Packer, first made her mark on the charts with her debut single, Vision of Love, in 1990 and quickly became one of the biggest performers on the planet.

But while her elaborate stage costumes and sleek and stylish hairstyles and make-up are perfect now, she wasn't always looking her best back then.

"I probably would've been like, 'Who does your hair and make-up?'" she told PrideSource when questioned about what 1990s-era Mariah would ask 2016 Mariah.

They (handlers) had me with some people who didn't know what they were doing and I knew it wasn't really good, and I'd just be like, 'Who does your lighting, hair and make-up?'"

These days, Mariah is a stickler for good lighting, revealing to Britain's Sunday Times Style Magazine she finds overhead lighting "abusive".

"I have to point out this is a rented house - I would never have overhead lighting," she said. "In my apartment in New York, it's all recessed lighting, chandeliers, candles. This lighting is abusive."

While Mariah has no overhead lighting at home, it seems she also has very little clothing - she told PrideSource a recent picture of her putting pizzas in a brick oven while wearing a silk nightgown and lingerie was no joke, adding, "That's what I walk around in! I barely own any clothes! All I have is friggin' lingerie."
