Mariah Carey has put her “one-of-a-kind” New York penthouse on the market for a cool US$27 million ($46.4m).
The singer-songwriter moved into the downtown Manhattan property in 1999, the same year she released her seventh studio album, Rainbow, People reported.
Carey, 57, purchased the top three floors of the 18-storey building and combined them to create her New York home.
The property boasts 1280sq m of interior space, 102sq m of private outdoor space, and 360-degree views over the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline, according to the listing.
The property has eight bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three half bathrooms, and a private rooftop terrace, with a fireplace.
The listing agents said this was the first time the renovated property was for sale, calling the penthouse at 90 Franklin St a “one-of-a-kind”.

When Carey purchased the house, she hired the famed interior designer Mario Buatta, who died in 2018, to style the interior and rooftop space.
The property then featured on MTV Cribs in 2002, where Carey made six outfit changes and introduced nearly every room as her “favourite”, according to the New York Times.

The property is dotted with butterflies, likely in reference to her album Butterfly.
“We put them wherever we could,” Buatta told Architectural Digest in 2001. “There are butterfly handles on the cabinets in the bedroom, and butterflies are woven into the bed hangings. They’re even on the soap in the bath and on the tiles in the kitchen.”

The property boasts a 12m-long master bath/spa that includes a lounge area with a television, a crystal chandelier, a gym, a sunroom, a jet bathtub, and a theatre room with a built-in aquarium. The penthouse has its own elevator.
Carey is not using the property often anymore, according to Realtor.com, which reported the singer had the property up for rent in January 2025, asking US$34,500 ($59,000) per month.
The outlet said Carey has taken out loans against the property totalling around US$18.6m ($32m), which may be the reason for the sale.
