Former first daughter Malia Obama has appeared in a music video with the New Dakotas in which she sings and plays harmonica.

Obama, 19, dressed in a beanie and oversized jumper, head bangs along with the tune Walking On Air.

The New Dakotas all go to Harvard. It isn't known if Obama, who also attends Harvard, is friends with the band.

Obama has spent her time since finishing high school in the entertainment industry.

She has had internships on the set of the Halle Berry television series Extant and Lena Dunham's series Girls.

She also worked at the now defunct Weinstein Company.
