Madonna has been spotted in a Motueka cafe today.

Cafe owner Stephanie Fry told the Herald the experience was "surreal".

"A big black four wheel drive-type car with tinted windows pulled up outside, just after two customers had left. It was just after 1pm.

"Two bodyguards came in, then Madonna, then two more bodyguards."

Ms Fry said Madonna was tiny, and her loose hair was looking very "glamorous and wavy".

Madonna told a bodyguard that she wanted a decaf soy flat white. The message was then passed onto the staff member serving her, who "put her head down and kept her mouth shut". Madonna did not address staff, and there was no small talk made with the superstar's staff either.

"We didn't want to make a song and dance about it," Ms Fry said.

The cafe is on Motueka's Old Wharf Rd - not a main street. Ms Fry was unsure about how they would have heard of the cafe.

Though the woman who made Madonna's coffee was not a fan, Ms Fry said she grew up in the 1980s listening to her music. "I even used to dress like her," she said.

Celcius Coffee staff shared their excitement over the visit from the superstar on Facebook.

"Madonna, yes Madonna has just been in to our coffee shop here in Motueka and had a soy flat white.

"She came in, with four men with her. One ordered her coffee for her... Wowsers.... Celcius Coffee Motueka! World Famous!"

Elton John to rock Pompeii

A staff member wrote on Facebook that they didn't get a photo of the Material Girl, because they didn't want to "make a big deal in front of her... Regretting that now!"

They said they were "buzzing' after the experience.

A private Cessna Citation CJ4 (twin-jet) spotted in Nelson yesterday possibly flew the star on a whirlwind tour of New Zealand.

The jet flew from Auckland to Taupo then on to Wellington on Tuesday, before heading to Nelson, then Wanaka.

Meanwhile, Madonna's crew have been happily snapping their adventures in New Zealand, including horse-riding on Pakiri Beach north of Auckland, wine-tasting on Waiheke Island, cocktail sipping in the city, and Tolkien role-playing in Hobbiton.

Dancer and the Queen of Pop's personal trainer, Marlyn Ortiz, posted photos on Instagram of herself and make-up artist Tiffany Saxby on the ferry to Waiheke Island, and a series of snaps wine tasting at Te Motu and Cable Bay vineyards.

"Cheers to life and blessings!" she posted in one image of their full wine glasses at Cable Bay overlooking a sunny island view.

Saxby posted a series of photographs of the crew horse-trekking on Pakiri Beach earlier this week.

"You are beautiful #NewZealand," she said.

Other images of the horse trek were accompanied by hashtags describing how much she was enjoying New Zealand, including #bliss #adventuretime

Her first New Zealand photograph was of a Kiwi flat white at Auckland Harbour.

"First flat white of the day! 17 more to go..Good Morning #NewZealand!!!" she posted two days ago.

The Queen of Pop's personal chef has also been enjoying tasting classic Kiwi fare and indulging in a few cocktails around the city.

Jaime Laurita has indulged in a breakfast and cocktails at Pilkingtons on Shortland St, drinks at Bedford & Soda in Ponsonby, and cocktails at The Pullman Hotel, The Crew Club, and up the Sky Tower.

Judging by his Instagram account, he spent most of one day earlier this week sampling extravagant cocktails in a range of city bars, on his "dayyyyyy ooooooffffffff".

"Having the day...#befordballers is serving us right. We are loving the Auckland vibe. When you come to ponsonby area it's super cool. Great food shopping!," he said.

Posting a photo of an organic lamb burger, he praised The Parsley Pot Café in Snells Beach as a "most incredible family farm to table restaurant", that was "so fresh and homegrown".

"So fantastic this wonderful place @theparsleypotcafe Everything is so great, the family vibe is beautiful. Great people! When you find good food and #travel you share the information," he said.

He later said the food would "make you cry it's so good".

Laurita has also praised New Zealand as "seriously magical" and said: "New Zealand is beautiful."

"I will never forget #auckland #newzealand If you truly want an incredible unique vacation you should consider this city. It's honestly unforgettably bright green landscapes are enough to paint your mind with memories."

Madonna's chief make-up artist has meanwhile been indulging in a bit of Lord of the Rings tourism, going all out on a costume for a Hobbiton tour.

Aaron Smith Henrikson posted three photos to his Instagram account of his tour of The Shire.
