NZ Herald in association with Parachute Studios has teamed up with our favourite Kiwi artists to record a series of amazing covers.
MTV Unplugged is finally coming Downunder, and Kiwi artist Maala will record the first New Zealand session in Auckland tomorrow night.
Unplugged has been running since 1989 and since then has featured artists like Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Hole, Jay-Z and Madonna.
The NZ show will berecorded on Wednesday night during an exclusive concert which Maala will play at Auckland's Town Hall.
Maala, whose real name is Evan Sinton, first became known to Kiwi audiences when he appeared in the second series of New Zealand's Got Talent, but he shot to fame with the release of his self-titled EP in 2015.
His singles Touch and In the Air took off and paved the way for a successful release of his debut album Composure in 2016.
He has been shortlisted for the APRA Silver Scrolls, nominated for the MTV Europe Awards' Best NZ Act, and at the NZ Music Awards last year he picked up four nominations, taking home the award for Best Male Solo Artist.
For now, the set list for his Unplugged appearance is under wraps but he did take to social media to say: "This one has a lot of history behind it and I can't wait to show you the tracks stripped back."
MTV Unplugged: MAALA will premiere on Sunday, August 6, at 8.30pm on MTV (SKY Channel 015) and MTV Music (SKY Channel 022).
