Lorde's whirlwind year not over yet

It's been a whirlwind year for Lorde, who has played almost 50 concerts in 40 cities across 14 countries this year.

The touring began after her Grammy win on January 26. Since then she has toured almost constantly, and now has three major music festivals - Coachella, Lollapalooza and Laneway - under her belt.

From March 4 to April 19 she toured around the United States and South America, playing 27 shows without taking a break.

She took time off after that to go home and recuperate on doctor's advice, forcing her to postpone her Australian tour.

Following her break in April and the start of May she flew to the United States where she performed at the Billboard Music Awards.

It was then on to Europe where she played eight concerts in six countries at the end of May and start of June.

She has now begun the rescheduled Australian tour with a show in Perth on Saturday night that was interrupted when she became unwell.

The 17-year-old stopped halfway through a song and left the stage for five minutes.
When she reappeared she apologised and said she "must have eaten something weird".
"I've never had to do that. I love you and I'm so grateful to be here," she said.

The break didn't seem to slow down her performance, and she jumped right back into her set.

But about 40 minutes later, after performing her 2013 smash hit Royals, the singer took a moment to wrap a towel around her neck and crouch next to a fan, saying she "just felt tired".

She tweeted the following day to thank her fans for their kindness and sensitivity at the show. She said she hoped to be back in Perth again soon.

After touring Australia with eight shows in July, Lorde is bound for North America where she has 22 more concerts lined up.
