Lorde's birthday message for Taylor Swift

Lorde has posted a birthday greetings to her "sister" Taylor Swift.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET PEA I LAAAAV YOU," Lorde tweeted on Sunday.

The Kiwi pop sensation also posted a message on her website: "Today one of my sisters turns 25. sure, she isn't a reeeal sister, and i haven't known her thaaat long, but it feels like forever."

The singer reminisced about the pair's friendship and posted photographs.

She says she feels "so lucky being part of this amazing circle of girls who are there for each other, dancing without inhibition, laughing for hours, and killing it at work.

"What im trying to say is, shes magic. it makes me all blushy knowing shes got my back. and from the other side of the world, im thinking of her on her special day."

Swift marked her 25th birthday on Saturday with party attended by A-listers, including Beyonce, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake.

She hosted a pizza party at her New York apartment until 5am in the morning, Britain's Daily Mirror reported.

At Billboard's Women in Music event on Friday Aretha Franklin sang Happy Birthday to Swift.
