Like hordes of other holidaymakers around the country, the Takapuna-based pop star - who celebrated her 18th birthday in November - has made the most of the hotsummer weather.
Lorde posted several photos on Instagram of her summer trips - including one of her showing off an inflatable $10 Mitre 10 tube on the shores of Lake Taupo, near Turangi.
It is understood she has family in the area, including grandparents and an aunt.
One of the photos at the lake was captioned: "The perfect day." It is believed to have been taken by her photographer boyfriend James Lowe. Another one showed an iced chocolate.
The Yellow Flicker Beat singer's visit to the area comes nearly a year after she was last spotted in Turangi taking photos with local fans.
