Lorde chooses yoghurt over Grammys

As the music industry's best and brightest gathered for yesterday's Grammy Awards, one superstar was notably absent, choosing instead to watch the spectacle from her Auckland home.

New Zealand songstress Lorde, who, last year, scooped best pop solo performance for Royals at the awards, tweeted about the ceremony at Los Angeles' Staples Centre while appearing to enjoy a bowl of feijoa yoghurt at home.

She also tweeted about Kanye West, who performed his new song Only One about his late mother on a nearly pitch-black stage at the awards ceremony.

Winners on the night included Pharrell. As well as winning the best pop solo performance for a live version of

Happy

, the singer-songwriter beat Beyonce in the best urban contemporary album category with

G I R L

and won best music video for

Happy

.

Sam Smith scooped four Grammys, winning song of the year and record of the year with

Stay With Me

The 22-year-old British star also won best new artist and pop vocal album for In the Lonely Hour.

Beyonce added three Grammys to her trophy cabinet, including two for

Drunk In Love,

which featured her husband Jay Z, while popular children's film

Frozen

won in two award categories - including best song written for visual media for the catchy

Let It Go

song.
