Lindsay later added a comment to clarify that the episode airs 30 minutes later than she had stated.
In the clip, an older Bart Simpson said: “I’m driving to school today. How am I gonna learn not to kill people if you don’t let me practice?”
Maggie then shivered nervously and was about to speak before her mum, Marge Simpson, shushed her and said: “Maggie, Maggie, rest your voice! You’re still getting over that laryngitis!”
But the youngster, voiced by Lindsay, then shouted: “Please don’t let Bart drive! It’s too scary! He drives so wiggly, and everybody honks at us and yells bad words and shows us fingers!”
Maggie typically only communicates with gestures, grunts and sucking sounds, which are usually voiced by Nancy Cartwright, who also provides the voice for Bart.
However, she has had dialogue in various episodes over the years, which have typically featured flash-forwards, dream sequences and alternative reality.
Back in season two, Carol Kane voiced Maggie when she said, “It’s your fault I can’t talk!” in an episode titled Bart vs. Thanksgiving.
Other famous faces to have voiced Maggie in the past have included Jodie Foster, James Early Jones and Viola Davis.
In season four, Dame Elizabeth Taylor voiced one of the few moments that Maggie has spoken in a regular scene.
During Lisa’s First Word, Maggie sat alone in her crib at the end of the episode and uttered the single word “Daddy”.
