Director Lars Von Trier's controversial horror movie The House that Jack Built is getting a New Zealand release.
The complete and uncut version of the film will screen at Rialto cinemas nationwide from 14 April.
The movie follows a serial killer named Jack over a period of 12 years, ashe begins to see his murders as works of art and grows increasingly bold as he pursues the creation of his "masterpiece".
von Trier attracted an all star cast for the movie, which he also wrote, including Matt Dillon as the title character as well as Bruno Ganz and Uma Thurman.
The movie has been splattered in controversy ever since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year sparked a mass walkout of over 100 viewers, with people calling it, "disgusting," "vile," and a movie that "should not have been made".
Critics are divided with some hailing it "as possibly brilliant," while others denounced it as "an ordeal of gruesomeness and tiresomeness". The film holds a lowly 60% on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
Kiwi movie goers will now have the chance to see what all the fuss is about for themselves. Or not.
