A feud has erupted between Lady Gaga and blogger Perez Hilton.

A feud has erupted between Lady Gaga and blogger Perez Hilton.

Well, this is awkward.

The ongoing verbal tussle between former friends Lady Gaga and gossip blogger Perez Hilton has turned uglier.

Days after Mother Monster took to Twitter to throw some shade at Hilton, the singer has let rip with a series of tweets on the social networking platform, calling the blogger "sick", and accusing him of stalking her.

On Friday, after days of Hilton critiquing and taking pot shots at the singer's new single, Applause, Gaga fought back.

Taking to Twitter, Gaga claimed that Hilton had allegedly sent her a picture of herself in a wheelchair, with the word "karma" emblazoned on it, along with an image of Madonna pointing a gun at her.

Backstory: Gaga was forced to cancel the remainder of her Born This Way Ball tour in February after suffering what was believed to be a labral tear on her right hip.

The 27-year-old songbird underwent surgery, and spent weeks recovering in her 24-carat gold wheelchair. She later revealed that the injury was more serious than she originally realised.

Madge and Gaga have famously feuded in the past.

The Material Girl repeatedly took swipes at Gaga over her single Born This Way in 2011. A song, critics charged, sounded similar to Madonna's 1989 hit Express Yourself.

"Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident," Gaga wrote in her tweet.

In another tweet, she urged fans not to lash out at Hilton, suggesting they "ignore" him instead.

"Please monsters do not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance," Gaga added.

Although Hilton, who was once one of Gaga's most vocal cheerleaders, did not respond directly to the tweets, he took to Twitter to mock the position of the singer's comeback single in the charts.

"Woah! @LadyGaga's Applause has dropped to #4 on @iTunesMusic in America. That country singer, Luke Bryan, is beating her," he stirred.

'STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK'

But Gaga took things a step further yesterday, accusing Hilton of harassing her, after one of her Twitter followers alerted her that he was spotted at her New York apartment building.

"STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" tweeted Gaga, who was away in Los Angeles at the time.

She continued, "DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING...I just want to make music+make people smile. Im sorry to all the fans who are trying to enjoy whats suppose to be a happy time. Gone too far."

LA-based Hilton recently announced that he is planning on moving to New York.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Hilton was house-hunting in New York, and "unbeknownst to him", one of the units he inspected was located in Gaga's apartment building.

"He's looking for a place that meets his family's needs," chimed a source, adding that Hilton had "no idea" Gaga lived there, and that despite reports to the contrary, he was not frogmarched out of the building.

Hilton later responded to Gaga's tweets with a post on his blog, titled "A Statement On Lady Gaga's Lies."

"After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and travelled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter.

"While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a 'stalker'. Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger," he wrote.

"I will continue to be a critic - in a way that is not mean or involves name-calling, and I will continue to have an opinion and talk about music and songs, like Gaga's Applause. I hope her fans stop sending me death threats, as the suggestion that I pose a danger to Lady Gaga is preposterous.

"If her fans want to send a message of support to Lady Gaga, they should buy her music. Notwithstanding my feelings about our personal relationship, I do wish Lady Gaga happiness and continued success and I assure you my family house hunting has nothing to do with her."

Gaga then tweeted, "YOU ARE A LIAR I KEPT EVERY PSYCHOTIC TEXT U SENT TO MY PHONE. I NEVER RESPONDED+NOW YOU'VE STALKED MY HOME. BOY WHO CRIED WOLF."

Prompting Hilton to let rip with a series of tweets.

"I will NOT handle this privately, the internet is just the surface of what the public sees. I've been quiet for a long time, not this time," wrote Gaga, adding, "I can fight my own battles monsters, please stop sending negativity on my behalf it's not what I stand for. I can handle myself."

The singer then deleted the majority of the aforementioned tweets mentioning Hilton from her account. But not before Hilton chimed: "The truth will all eventually come out. It usually does!"
