Some are angry, others are supporting him. Here's what stars are saying about Charlie Sheen's admission that he is HIV positive.

Charlie Sheen's revelation that is HIV-positive has had mixed reaction from those close to him and in Hollywood.

Natalie Kenly: 'He's not a monster'

Charlie Sheen's former girlfriend says he wouldn't knowingly have exposed his sexual partners to HIV.

His ex, Natalie Kenly, 29, said she did not believe he would have put anyone at risk on purpose.

She told People: "He is not a monster. He has regard for human beings and cares about people. I do not see him knowingly putting women at risk. He's got young kids. He's also not an idiot and I don't see him opening himself up to that legal nightmare."

Kenly - who says she is HIV-negative - was one of Charlie's "goddesses" in 2011 and although she has not discussed his illness with him, she publicly sent him good wishes.

She said: "He loved us all. He cares. He's a good man and I feel very fortunate to have spent the time with him that I did, and I'm so sad to hear of his health troubles. I hope he's okay."

Bree Olsen: 'I trusted him'

Bree Olsen, a former porn star and another of Sheen's "goddesses", said he insisted he was "clean" while they were together and that when they had sex he used lambskin condoms, which provide less protection than latex condoms.

"I didn't want to use lambskin, I wanted to use regular condoms. I made the same mistake that a lot of people do, I trusted him.

"There were times when we didn't use condoms, because it was only to prevent against pregnancy. I loved him, yes, he was my boyfriend. I left the [porn] industry for him and I never went back."

Heather Locklear: 'My heart hurts'

Heather Locklear has called for prayers for Sheen after his HIV-positive diagnosis was revealed.

The 54-year-old actress made a public declaration of support for her former Spin City co-star by sharing a picture of them together on Instagram and writing: "My heart hurts. Prayers for Charlie and his family."

Lady Gaga: 'He's shown bravery'

Singer Lady Gaga said the star's admission was "an opportunity for people all over the world to learn about modern HIV prevention, treatments, and emotional intelligence as it relates to the stigma of the virus".

'He's a monster' - Sheen faces lawsuits

17 Nov 10:25 PM

The National Enquirer first revealed Sheen's diagnosis before the Two and a Half Men star confirmed it in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show.

Sheen revealed that his ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller had both been aware of his illness - which was diagnosed four years ago - for some time, but he only recently told his oldest daughter Cassandra, 30.

Sheen, who also has daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 9, with Richards and twin boys Bob and Max, 6, with Mueller, said: "It hit her hard but she recovered, but she's tough like her dad ... She was a rock star about it."

He also explained that he has paid out millions to blackmailers who threatened to reveal his illness but he is relieved that he is now free from extortion.

Sheen said: "We're talking about shakedowns. I've paid those people, not that many, but enough to bring it into the millions. That's money they're taking from my children. It's not just me. I've got five kids and a granddaughter. I release myself from this prison today.

"It'll be great again. I'm a survivor. I've been up, I've been down I've been rich, I've been poor. It's another chapter in my life. It's not commerce-driven. It's socially driven."

Denise Richards: 'I'm always here for him'

Meanwhile, Richards has vowed to "always" be there for Sheen.

The 44-year-old actress insisted she and Sheen are "at peace" after years of ups and downs.

Appearing on the podcast, Allegedly With Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss, Richards said: "[It's] up and down. I'm always here [for him,] but he's an addict. I believe we move past your s**t. Don't sweat the small stuff. For better or worse, he's going to be in my life for the rest of my life so I personally like to keep the peace."

Richards and Sheen fell in love and married during a sober period of his life and she admitted his relapse took a toll on their relationship.

She said: "Charlie, when I married him, he wasn't a bad boy. He was sober for almost four years. He was a very different person. His lifestyle was very, very different. He was a former bad boy, I guess.

"I have a lot of empathy for anyone that struggles with addiction. I'm not going to judge the choices they made under the influence. I can only judge the person I'm meeting and I think sometimes past experiences make who you are so I just went off the person I had met and gotten to know and fell in love with. He was very different."

Richards also claimed that her relationship with Sheen adversely affected her career as many people in Hollywood took his side when they split.

She said: "I was surprised how much that affected me work-wise ... I was perceived as being a lunatic and crazy. There are people that have [since] come up to me and apologised for drinking the Kool-Aid ... It was hard."
