Entree was the first hurdle for the ACT residents with their salt and pepper flathead fillets with lime aioli proving under seasoned and overcooked.
"We had huge expectations girls because we went around all of those people and you were very excited to cook for all of us," said a disappointed Manu.
"You talked about your passion, about your knowledge, we thought bang..."
The situation swiftly went from bad to worse, however, and instead of picking themselves up and powering one, a last minute mistake in the kitchen saw the couple throw out their gnocchi mixture and start on home made egg pasta.
The guests were kept waiting over two hours for the promised main of rotolo of gnocchi with duck ragu with crispy sage only to be sorely disappointed.
Pete was able to see past what the ambitious menu had pledged, but found much to fault with their replacement.
"The pasta was so overcooked and it didn't feel like you had salt in the water either, it was very bland," he said.
"There was water left in the pasta when it went into the bowl as well which then diluted the ragu."
The mother-daughter duo were eliminated after a spectacular fall from grace saw them score an abominably low 40 out of 120, a whole five points lower than quirky sweethearts Annie and Lloyd.
