Kings' hit single Don't Worry Bout It became a national sensation and now it's helped him break one of Lorde's long-held records.
Kings' hit has been the number one New Zealand single for 19 consecutive weeks, breaking the record previously held by Lorde, whose hit Royals held the top spotfor 18 weeks.
It's another in a long line of huge achievements for the North Shore man, whose real name is Kingsdon Chapple-Wilson. He just picked up the New Zealand Music Award for breakthrough artist of the year and he's due to release his debut EP on Friday.
His lead single has not only earned him huge acclaim and a massive following, but it's certified platinum and has been streamed on Spotify more than 3.5 million times, and on YouTube more than 700,000 times.
"She was just running around, she was very free. That's how I got the first few lines of the lyrics from that moment. That's how it started. I created the beat two weeks before that. I had a big Kygo influence for that. He's a beast."

Ultimately, his goal is to win a Grammy award - "not for the statue...for the platform. I feel like you can reach a lot more people from the platform. I want to be able to change the world for the better, even if it's in a small way".
