Ubiquitous reality TV queen Kim Kardashian is striking back at Mad Men star Jon Hamm after he classified her as a "f**king idiot" in a recent interview.

The 40-year-old actor, who plays advertising executive Don Draper in the hit TV series, opened fire on the cult of celebrity in next month's issue of Elle UK magazine (via Britain's Daily Mail).

In his interview, Hamm accused Kardashian and fellow celebutante Paris Hilton of making "stupidity" fashionable.

"We're at a place where the idea of being 'elite' is somehow considered a negative. Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated," he said.

"Being a f**king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly.

"And incuriousness has become cool. It's celebrated. It doesn't make sense to me."

Ouch!

Hamm also dished on his curvy co-star, Christina Hendricks, describing her as "beautiful".

Asked if Mad Men had altered people's concept of body image, he replied: "I can't say Mad Men has changed anything. It's a spike, a blip.

"I think Christina Hendricks is a beautiful woman, but we live in a culture where the beauty model is significantly different from Christina's silhouette. It shouldn't be - those of us who live in real life realise, especially as we get older, that beauty isn't just 22 years old, blonde, skinny with big tits.

Blogger sorry for calling Kim Kardashian marriage 'staged'

24 Feb 01:30 AM

"Those of us that have lived with and actually seen a real woman naked and made love realise there are many, many iterations."

He also said that marriage wasn't on the cards for him and girlfriend of 15 years Jennifer Westfeldt.

He said: "The flip answer is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having a piece of paper serves to remind you of your commitment but we do a pretty good job of reminding each other."

The dishy actor also told the mag: "I don't even consider myself handsome. I look at the people in the world that I consider truly handsome, like Clooney, Brad Pitt.

"When I look in the mirror I see my goofy-ass self from when I was a kid."

Ah, modest too.

'I respect Jon...'

So what does Kardashian have to say about Hamm's insult? Spitting tacks and speed-dialling her legal muscle? Not exactly. She's taking the high road.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians starlet took to Twitter on Tuesday to defend herself.

"I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview," she wrote.

"I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We're all working hard and we all have to respect one another.

"Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, 'stupid,' is in my opinion careless."

Kardashian's pal Jonathan Cheban re-tweeted her missive, adding, "Who's Jon Hamm??"

Replied Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner: "EXACTLY".

Hamm isn't the first Hollywood heartthrob to speak out against Kardashian.

In the January issue of British GQ, James Bond star Daniel Craig, while explaining why he tied the knot with Rachel Weisz under such secrecy, opened fire on the Kardashians.

"I think there's a lot to be said for keeping your own counsel," Craig told the mag.

"It's not about being afraid to be public with your emotions or about who you are and what you stand for. But if you sell it off it's gone," he explained.

"You can't buy it back - you can't buy your privacy back. Ooh I want to be alone. F*** you. We've been in your living room. We were at your birth. You filmed it for us and showed us the placenta and now you want some privacy?

"Look at the Kardashians, they are worth millions," Craig explained. "Millions! I don't think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them."

Craig continued: "You see that and you think, 'What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions.

"I'm not judging it - well, I am obviously."

Actor Jonah Hill also had a go back in December.

"The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows - shows that people actually work hard on - writing and creating and trying to tell stories," he told The Huffington Post.

He added: "The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting."

There's been no word from Hilton's camp regarding Hamm's jibes. But keep an eye on your cellphone Hamm, she might just send you one of her drunk texts.

As for Kardashian, it's business as usual. She took to Twitter over the weekend to share a snap of herself decked out in leopard-print underwear. As you do.
