She distanced herself from Kanye's endorsement of the president, writing, "Most people (including myself) have very different feelings & opinions about this. But this is HIS opinion. I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine."
She added that West "never said he agrees with his politics".
But while the socialite passionately fought on the front lines for her husband, sources close to the family told People Wednesday that 'it takes somewhat of a toll on' Kim 'after a while, or when he's being really needy.
"Kanye is like a child who needs constant attention - and Kim already has three of those," referring to the couple's three kids: four-year-old daughter North, two-year-old son Saint, and three-month-old baby daughter Chicago.
The source added that "the kids come first" with Kim, which puts her at somewhat of a disconnect with her enigmatic spouse, who 'always expects to be number one.
"That just can't be a reality for Kim, who is already balancing being a mom to three kids as well as her work," the source said.
Insiders told the publication that while there haven't been any major marital problems to arise amid West's recent headline-grabbing antics, it's been wearing Kim down.
"Kim has been working a lot of late and simply has less of her time to give Kanye," the source said. "[New mum] Khloé needed her. The kids need her. Work needs her. It's a lot to juggle, and I'm sure most mums can relate."
Kim has been "definitely affected" and "can't stand" Kanye's recent blitz of activity, another insider said.
"Kanye is very needy, and it's draining for Kim. She works, is a mum and has many responsibilities," the source said. "She doesn't want him to keep tweeting. They have had these issues in the past. Kanye just doesn't listen to anyone. He thinks he's just misunderstood.
"It takes a lot for him to admit that he needs to chill out. And how do you argue with someone who think they are a creative genius? Kim can only wait and hope Kanye will snap out of this soon."
