"However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter ... unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding."
But Kermit hasn't wasted any time getting back on the market - he's dating Denise from publicity, also another pig.
At a Television Critics Association panel in Los Angeles this week, Kermit said being forced to work side-by-side with Miss Piggy had affected their relationship.
"It's a day-by-day, moment-by-moment process. Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically ... It can be tough to work with your ex."
The pair have been on-again, off-again over the years, but they're vowing to remain professional for the sake of their new prime-time comedy, The Muppets.
"People change. So do frogs and pigs. ... We were together for a long, long time and it's personal," Kermit said.
The Muppets is a mockumentary-style look at Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie and the gang as they produce a late-night talk show for Miss Piggy called Up Late With Miss Piggy.
