Two-time American Horror Story star Kathy Bates has been confirmed to return to the anthology series for its upcoming fifth season, American Horror Story: Hotel.
Show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted the news, with FX confirming the casting later on the same day.
While the 66-year-old actress' exact role has yetto be revealed, Ryan indicated that Kathy would be in charge.
"Kathy Bates is running the Hotel. #AHSSeason5" read the prolific TV producer's Twitter posting.
Kathy, who won an Emmy for playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie in American Horror Story: Coven, joins already announced cast members Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley, and Cheyenne Jackson.
Filming is expected to begin during the summer, and the AHS: Hotel premiere will air in October.
With this casting, Kathy will be a star of three seasons of the celebrated horror show - she previously appeared in the most recent entry, AHS: Freak Show, as a bearded lady, Ethel Darling.
The actress made it clear after that experience that she was eager to return to American Horror Story at least one more time.
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed," Kathy told Us Weekly on March 17 at an event honouring the actresses of American Horror Story.
"I sure would love to work with Lady Gaga," she added.

While her frequent co-star Jessica Lange has said she would not return for another season, Kathy explained that she would be happy to "be a part of the new crew."
One of the most celebrated actresses of the past few decades, Kathy has been nominated for multiple Emmy, Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for her roles.
She won the Best Actress Academy Award and Golden Globe for Misery in 1990 and later received two more Oscar nominations for 1998's Primary Colors and 2002's About Schmidt.

As for television, Kathy has amassed 12 Emmy nominations over the years, winning for American Horror Story and for a guest role playing Charlie Sheen's ghost on Two And A Half Men.
