Kate Beckinsale's sex scene a 'frisky hug'

British actress Kate Beckinsale has downplayed her sex scene with Colin Farrell, describing it as more of a "frisky hug".

Beckinsale stars alongside the Irish actor in a remake of the 1990 film Total Recall.

Beckinsale plays Lori, an assassin who is married to Farrell's character Doug Quaid.

Soon after Beckinsale arrived on set, the pair had to film a love scene - but she says the clinch wasn't as steamy as people may think.

"It wasn't a sex scene," she has told Empire magazine. "It was a bit of a frisky hug."

Beckinsale's husband Les Wiseman directed the movie. Although some people might feel uncomfortable kissing another man in front of their spouse, Beckinsale took it in her stride.

"It's always more awkward for the other person, I think. I've got no moveable parts, so I can be inscrutable," she said.

Beckinsale said she was surprised when her husband suggested she would be perfect for the role of Lori.

"When Len started working on the script he said, 'I've got you in mind for this awful villainous bitch-wife'," the star said. "Which upset me a tiny little bit, but I moved through that."
