Joaquin Phoenix missed the premiere of his new movie Two Lovers in Cannes, France, after he was hospitalised with stomach problems.
The actor couldn't attend the red-carpet event at the world famous film festival alongside co-star Gwyneth Paltrow because he was "massively dehydrated", according to the movie's directorJames Gray.
In a statement, Joaquin admitted he was "very disappointed" to miss the premiere of the film, which tells the story of a bachelor torn between a family friend that his parents want him to marry and his beautiful neighbour.
It has not been confirmed when Joaquin will be released from hospital, where he is being treated for severe vomiting and dehydration.
Meanwhile, Joaquin's co-star Gwyneth stars in a raunchy scene in the film, where she bares one of her breasts on camera.
The mother-of-two - who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - stars as Joaquin's character's neighbour in the movie, and the sexy scene is part of her attempt to snare him.
