A movie based on the video game Portal will be announced 'fairly soon' according to JJ Abrams.
The long-gestating movie adaptation of Portal is still in active development, says filmmaker JJ Abrams.
Speaking to IGN at the premiere of his new Westworld TV series, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director said he hopes "that there will be a Portal announcement fairly soon."
"We have a meetingcoming up next week with Valve, we're very active," he added.
Abrams' film adaptations of Portal and Half Life were announced in February 2013; the last time Abrams spoke of the projects was in March this year, at which point he had no news.
But now, "we are having some really interesting discussions with writers," Abrams said.
"As someone who loves playing Half Life and Portal [...] it's incredible when you talk to [a writer] who just 'gets' it, it's like, oh my god, it's really the seed for this incredible tree you're growing."
For now, everything about the adaptation - like everything going on with Valve properties - remains swathed in mystery.
