Jimmy Barnes inspires daughter

Soul singer Mahalia Barnes says she's learnt life's lessons young, watching her father Jimmy Barnes battle alcohol and drug addiction. And his honesty, she says, has been an inspiration.

"He's never tried to hide anything from anyone, he's a very honest person," she said.

The eldest daughter of the former Cold Chisel frontman has worked solo for seven years and witnessed first hand the effects of addiction in her childhood and teenage years.

"As far as drugs and alcohol are concerned, I've probably seen a lot more than most people would have at the age that I did," she said.
