Kiwi comedy king Jemaine Clement has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the classic children's book, The BFG.
Empire reported the Flight of the Conchords star has been cast in the Spielberg film alongside Bill Hader, Ruby Barnhill, Adam Godley, Jonathan Holmes, Penelope Wilton and RebeccaHall.
The industry website said cameras were rolling on the big screen version of the big screen version of the much-loved Rhoald Dahl book, and was set to be released on July 22, 2016.
It isn't known yet what role Clement will play in the film, but Mark Rylance has been cast in the main role of the Big Friendly Giant.
"It is a special joy to be in the director's chair as we start The BFG," Spielberg told Empire. "There are many reasons why I am so excited about this joint venture."
Clement's acting career is going from strength to strength, with a resume that now includes What We Do in the Shadows, Men in Black 3 and Gentlemen Broncos.
He has roles in two films due out this year, including comedy Don Verdean, and the lead in Jim Strouse film People, Places, Things, about a graphic artist struggling to adapt after divorcing his wife.
