On the mend, DeFord, who won three times at the awards, showed off his newly repaired ATV (all-terrain vehicle) and said it was the first time he had driven it since the January accident.
“Y’all just took this thing out for the first time since I flipped it. I broke my collarbone. I was so scared to get back on this thing.
“I just knew if I didn’t get back on it sooner than later, I was just going to be more and more afraid of it.”
His wife, Alisa “Bunnie Xo” DeFord, also shared a post on Instagram showing background footage of her husband in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace, grimacing before giving a smile to the camera.
“This happened in January, worst phone call to ever get. But we got thru it thank goodness & he’s healed completely.”
DeFord said he made a quick recovery.
“Sometimes the machine can do more than the user thinks it can,” said DeFord.
“This was all user error. Anyways, moral of the story, get back on that pony baby. Love y’all.”
At the Grammy Awards Jelly Roll won Best Contemporary Country Album, Best Contemporary Christian Music Song and Best Country Duo Performance.
DeFord made New Zealand headlines in November last year when he cancelled his Auckland concert just minutes before he was due to perform.
Promoter Live Nation said the cancellation was because of illness.
