Many a macho male has sought to prove his virility through his pet, with bulldogs, rats and snakes popular choices, but few have gone as far as American singer Jason Derulo.

The American singer is renovating his Los Angeles home to include a shark tank big enough to hold eight sharks.

"When you walk in my house I just wanted to have a main event," Derulo told the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

"So right now there's a bar there that I'm having changed, renovated. So the bar will now be a shark tank. Not great whites. There's a couple of kinds but I don't want any of them to exceed four or five feet," he said.

The 25-year-old singer, currently in Australia to promote his new album Everything Is 4, was also asked by a listener if he has a sex tape, following claims by entertainment website TMZ that it has a sex tape of the star.

But Derulo said as far as he's aware there's no sex tape and he wouldn't really care if there was.

"I'm a dude, so it doesn't really matter that much to me. If shorty did that, I mean, that's wrong, but I'm not gonna like, give my money."

Derulo also confirmed that his hit single Cheyenne is not about Aussie model Cheyenne Tozzi.

"There is a Cheyenne, of course there is. Everybody has their Cheyenne, that person that you didn't intend on things to go that route, but they kinda went anyway, and sometimes you regret it, sometimes you don't," he said.
